Making The Exchange
Do you really understand what Jesus did when He took off His robe of Righteousness, and put on our robe of sin? In order for us to fully reap the benefits of this exchange, we must truly believe that Christ is the Son of the Living God, and that His blood was shed for our sins.
Let me give you an illustration of someone who made the exchange. The woman with the issue of blood: This woman had sought doctors for twelve years regarding a bleeding disorder in her body, and she had spent all of her money yet she still was not cured. This woman heard that Jesus was coming to town, and she had heard of His miracles; she had enough faith in Him that if she could only touch but the hem of His garment, that she would be made whole. You must realize what this woman risked, because according to customs, if a woman had a blood disorder, she was considered unclean and she could not go among people. Sometimes you must break tradition when you want a miracle from God.
There was a crowd of people surrounding Jesus, so the woman could not get anywhere near Him, but she had enough faith in His Robe of Righteousness that He wore. This is not just speaking of His attire, but also His character. I want you to carefully envision this exchange: Out of teh entire multitude of people surrounding Jesus (and therefore many people must have touched Him), when this particular woman with the issue of blood touched Him, Jesus stopped in His tracks and “called her out”, by asking, ”Who touched me?” Even His disciples thought that their master had “lost it” right about now. They replied, “Master, the multitude throng You and press You, and You say, Who touched Me?”Jesus didn’t let their cynicism deter Him. He simply proceeded to tell them that He perceived that the virtue had gone out of Him.
Please pay close attention to what happened next, because the recipient’s (the woman with the issue of blood) actions is the key to all of our ability to make the exchange: When the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before Him, she declared to Him before all the people why she had touched Him, and how she was healed immediately. (Let us keep in mind the scriptures in which Jesus says: “…there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hidden, that shall not be known…Whosoever therefore shall confess Me before men, him will I confess also before My Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny Me before men, him will I also deny before My Father which is in heaven.”) Regardless of how embarrassed this woman might have felt because she had been discovered, that feeling couldn’t compare to her relief of being healed from her blood disorder. She was not willing to sacrifice her newly found healing by being ashamed to come forth and confess to Christ when He called her out.
We, as Christians, might not have such a dramatic encounter with Christ as this woman did; but when we surrender our life unto Christ, we should not be ashamed to tell someone. We should find comfort in knowing that there is nothing that we have ever done in our pasts that Jesus is not aware of; but most of all, there is nothing that He can’t forgive us of by the power of His blood. This is why we should be willing to make the exchange. When we have exhausted all of our money, our hope, our strength, our all and all, that’s when we need to try Jesus. Remember always that it is in our weakness that His strength is made perfect unto us. This means that we can’t experience the power of Christ resting upon us until we cease from all of our worries. We must be totally dependent unto Him. In other words, we must have complete Faith in Christ.
If you haven’t done it, why don’t you surrender All to Jesus today? He is seated on the right hand of His Father awaiting your decision to entrust your life unto Him. The choice however, is yours. If you decide to confess Him, He will confess you to His Father, and you will spend eternity with them in heaven. If you choose to deny Him, then you will spend eternity in hell with Satan.
We suggest that you choose Life! Choose Christ!
Until Next Time,
God Be With You
